What Does Empty Sac On An Ultrasound Report Indicate?
Hi i had a dating ultrasound scan for my first pregnacy and there is a empty sac which measures at 6 weeks. Sac is completely empty. There is no loss of fluid and i and not spotting or bleeding. There is a dominant follicle within my left ovary. My blood results are great and pregnancy levels are rising as they should be but there is just no baby present or a sign of one developing. Am I having a miscarriage? Please help it s my first time
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Presence of gestational sac which corresponds to 6 weeks suggests that you have conceived. However, the sac is empty at this stage, which means that there is no visibility of fetal pole. Since there is no spotting or bleeding and your blood test results are fine, kindly wait for a week and get another scan done to know what could be the status. If the fetal pole is not seen and there is no appearance of cardiac activity by 8 weeks, then the pregnancy seems to be non-viable and could result in miscarriage. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
