Beriberi is a disease cause by deficiency of vitamin B1 or Thaimine and is commonly prevalent in underdeveloped countries.The symptoms are weight loss;generalised weakness;wernicke's encephalopathy or decreased sensory perception;oedema of body;difficulty in walking;loss of muscle function;mental confusion;shortness of breath and increased heart rate or irregular heart rate.The treatment is vitamin B1 or Thaimine.
