What Does A Painless Mass Under The Collarbone Indicate?

I have a large painless mass right under my collarbone. It could not be seen during my last mammogram due to the placement. I was told it was right over a lymph node. I have an appointment with my surgeon in two weeks. Should I be concerned that it might be more than a fatty tumor?

Hello,
It could be a fatty tumor called a lipoma. It could also be a lymph node. If it is a node then the surgeon could biopsy it to make sure that it is not abnormal. Lymph nodes swell up to help fight off infection and sometimes they just do not go back to normal.
