What Does A Follicular Study Signify?

Hi Doctor,

My wife has been advised to undergo a follicular study. The Right ovarian follicular size is 1.0cm X 1.0 Cm and left ovarian follicle is 1.2cm X 1.1cm and Endometrial reaction is 5mm on day 11 of menstrual cycle. What does this signify? when will ovualtion happen?

Thanks for writing to HCM

Your follicular study is absolutely normal.
There are two dominant follicles one in each ovary and one of them will take part in ovulation and will be available for fertilization.
Ovulation is indicated by mild free fluid in POD.
You should plan unprotected intercourse within 24-48 hours of ovulation for maximum chances of fertilization.
After intercourse female should lay down in bed with folded hips and knees for 15 mins so that sperm can move inside the female genital tract easily.
Endometrial thickness is also satisfactory.
