What Do You Suggest For Irregular Heart Rate And Blood Pressure?

hello, I take diltiazem hcl er(cd)240mg for irregular heart rate and palpitations I take atenol and diovan for blood pressure, just got a script for amlodipine 5mg for blood pressure and see the possible side effects are irregular heart rate and pounding in chest etc. why take a pill that may produce what the other pill is stopping am very confused Have just found out I have moderate blockage in vessels and my b/p is very high

I read your query very carefully.

Yes it's true that the use of amlodipine alone may cause tachycardia and palpitation. But the combination of amlodipine and betablockers minimize this side effect.

However if i was your treating doctor may suggest to add another class of antihypertensive (diuretics) or would change atenolol with nebivolol or carvedilol (which have more antihypertensive effect than atenolol).
