What Do Articular Surface Tears Through Each Posterior Horn Medial Meniscus Mean?

I am trying to make sense of my MRI results. nearly symmetric abnormal findings include articular surface tears through each posterior horn medial meniscus, moderate-sized joint effusions, mild marrow contusion/edema about the medial femoral condyles and medial tibial plateaus, and moderate tricompartmental osteoarthritis. The cruciate and collateral ligaments are intact.

There is no displaced fracture or dislocation.

Welcome to Health care magic.

1.There are two banana shaped meniscus seen in between the articular surface ( joint space) femur and tibia.
2.Meniscus help as a shock absorber properties - in your case there are tears seen on the articular surfed through the posterior horn of medial meniscus.
3.There is minimal effusion - due to inflammatory change.
4.And moderate osteoarthritis findings - likely age related or excessive usage of the joint.
5.Rest all appears normal - as the report says. Good luck.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
