Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Stomach Ache, Vomiting, Chest Heaviness And Dizziness Indicate?
My 10 year old daughter has had a stomach ache since yesterday. She has vomited 3 times. She does not have a fever. She is lethargic, and complains of dizziness. She also mentioned that her chest feels a little heavy kind of like when she had the flu and pnemonia in January.
The most common cause of pain abdomen with vomiting in the absence fever and loose stool is suggestive of gastritis. The reflux associated with gastritis may cause heaviness in chest. In flu or pneumonia there should be associated fever, cough, cold or fast breathing. As your child does not has any of these symptoms the possibility of pneumonia/flu is highly unlikely. The dizziness and weakness in gastritis occurs due to loss of fluids and electrolytes following vomiting. I would like to give her antiemetic with acid reducing agent like pantoprazole and domperidone combination. This will help in improving the oral acceptance and also relieve the pain.Give plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
If vomiting continues or condition deteriorates consult your physician. Regards
