What Could Prolonged Increased Heart Rate After Running Indicate?

Hi, I am 21 year old lady, I weigh 53kg, 164cm.. I have been quite active during my life but not been training seriously for the past 2years.. I started running now again using a heart rate monitor and my heart jumped from 140- 230 within +-1min wilst running 8km/hour.. I'm lying in bed now for the last 30min and while typing this my heart does not go below 84 bmp and sometimes jump to 101 bpm.. Usually my resting heart rate is between 48-58.. I'm confused... Should I be..?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Heart rate increase after physical exertion like running and playing. This is a normal thing and absolutely nothing to worry in it and it will return to normal base line rate in ten to fifteen minutes. No treatment is required but you can take an ECG to rule out abnormal rhythm just for reassurance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
