What Could Flesh Colored Bloody Lesions On Upper Thighs Indicate?

I have a skin rash (actually a series of about 100 flesh-colored lesions) on my upper inner thigh --- I observed the symptoms about three days ago and the lesions (all together) are about one inch wide and three inches long now. The area is warm but I have no other systems (i.e. fever). I worked out this morning and when I took a shower, there was blood on my towel when I dried myself in that area; I used an alcohol wipe to clean the infected area and immediately went to the local clinic. The attending doctor said he was sure it was not an STD, and thought it might be shingles and referred me to a dermatologist. The infected area is now smaller and dry . So my personal diagnosis is as follows: 1) I started taking Qsymia several weeks ago for weight loss (I have diabetes); one of the potential side effects is red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin. 2) I just started gardening --- maybe dermatitis from some plant I am allergic to? --- but then, why only on the upper thigh? Why no red splotching just the lesions? 3) The clinic doctor thought it might be shingles --- I have had shingles at least three times and this does not seem similar to those three episodes (i.e. no stress in my life today). 4) Staph infection --- I go backpacking quite often (but not recently because of the weather), and frequently (once every couple of years) I get a staph infection that needs treatment. But that is usually a red splotch and not lesions. I am seeing a dermatologist tomorrow --- anything you can suggest?

Hi,

It may be acanthosis nigiricans with secondary infection. Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. I would recommend a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs. After removal of infection, salicylic acid % oint. may be applied to smoother the area. Take steps to reduce weight. Keep the diabetes controlled.

Hope this helps.
