What Could Cause Fever In A 8 Years Old Child?

My 8 yr old daughter has been battling a fever for the last 2 days. It was generally 102-103 before ibuprofen. The fever seems to have subsided but she has been scratching her ribs this morning and has welts from where she scratched but the rest of her torso has a faint pink rash. The rash is only slightly raised, tiny bumps (like heat rash). She has some reddening of the throat area near the tonsils. Could this be scarlet fever? There were no signs of strep throat previous to this.

Welcome to healthcaremagic
In scarlet fever rash comes on the first day of fever. It is associated with high fever and toxic look.In your case rash has come after 2 days. And with appearance of rash fever has decreased. So this is looking like typical viral rash.
