What Could Burning, Raised Rashes On Thigh Indicate?

Good Morning,

I recently developed a red rash on my thigh and am having difficulty tracking down what might have caused this. It first appeared on Friday (February 18) morning as I was driving from the San Francisco Bay Area to Tahoe, CA. It came on rather quickly (or maybe that's just how it felt), and was accompanied by a severe burning sensation rather than an itchy one. I pulled my pants down to expose my leg to air, and noticed that the rash was approximately an inch and a half in diameter, solid red, and very slightly raised. The burning sensation took over an hour or two to dissipate, but the rash remained. I'm now going into day 6 with this rash. It is only slightly sensitive to the touch, but still burns--though nowhere near how much it burned when it first appeared. I was wondering if anyone might have some ideas as to whatmy symptoms describe? I unfortunately do not have health insurance--and I'm unemployed currently, so hopefully this is not something serious that would require a doctor visit...

Thank you for your assistance. Good Day!
