What Could Be The Reason For Vaginal Bleeding With Mucus And Clots At Old Age?
I'm 62 and can't remember the last time I had a period. I have had light vaginal bleeding with mucus and clots for about a week. Had a triple bypass 2 weeks ago so haven't made an appointment for this yet. My sister had ovarian cancer. Should I be worried?
I understand the query. The common cause of vaginal bleed and spotting at the age of 62 is senile endometritis. This is a condition where the genital tract tissues do not have any hormonal support to grow and hence this bleeding occurs. A course of local estrogens and antibiotics usually cure this condition.
Other rare reasons are cancer of the uterine lining or the cervix. Ovarian cancer does not produce this type of bleeding.
So as of now, do not worry, just fix an appointment with your doctor and get an evaluation.
