What Could Be The Reason For Stomach Cramps, Heartburn And Loose Motion?

I started having stomach cramping six hours or more ago. It happens every minute for about 10 seconds. I could sleep for 1/2 an hour and then it wakes me up. The heartburn was bad so I sucked on a tums a little bit ago. I also just had a loose stool.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptoms usually are caused by gastrointestinal infection. Especially if not last for a long time. Such infection can be caused by bacteria or viruses. Most of such infections do not need medical attention and heals by its own. However if you will notice blood in stool, high fever or diarrhea will last for longer than 48 hours, you should visit your doctor and have stool tests done.

In a meanwhile please try to avoid solid foods for 12 hours. Drink plenty of liquids. Warm tea or Gatorade should help.

Regards.
