What Could Be The Reason For Menstrual Cramps?

My periods have been getting very bad and I will set up a time to see my doctor. However, I'm wondering if there is any immediate need (today is a holiday and the doctor is not in). I have had the worst period ever and took 600mg of advil every six hours for the last two days. My cramping was so bad that I was having cramping in one of my thighs also. (at the time I thought it was a blood clot, but made the connection that it was probably due to the cramps.

Now that the cramping is better (both in my stomach and thigh), my lower abdomen is very bloated and tender to the touch. It really hurts to press on it and feel like I just want to rest.

I do normally feel some tenderness at the ends of my periods, but never this bad. What would be causing the tenderness? Thanks so much for any advice you can give.

Is there any reason to think there is something wrong with me other than severe menstrual cramps that
