What Could A Painful Lump Near Umbilical Area During Pregnancy Be?

I am 20 weeks pregnant with my 5th child - 36 years old, leiden V mutation, do not drink, smoke and am otherwise healthy. But I have a painful lump left side of my umbilical area and find is difficult to take deep breaths...am not on clexane just drinking red grape juice, eating garlic and ginger ! Don`t think I have a hernia - could it be a vein in my abdomen? i have support stockings - both legs for painful hot varicose. Thanks ! am 61 kg at 20 weeks ( gained from 58kg pre-pregnancy) and am 158cm...

Hi dear, you seem to be very uncomfortable.

Why do you say that this lump is not hernia? Hernia lump comes on coughing or sneezing and goes while lying down.

If it is not hernia, it could be fibroid in the uterus which grows during pregnancy. Otherwise it may be some ovarian tumour also. Tumour from any other site also can cause such lump. If you get ultrasonography performed, it will clinch the diagnosis. Anyway, during pregnancy, the fibroid is not to be removed for the risk of uncontrollable bleeding.

Please report to your Obstetrician and get the ultrasonography done.

hope you have got proper guidance.
