What Child Of Strep Could It Be If Child Is Having Discharge, Stomachache And UTI?

hi, my daughter is 4 and has been suffering with discharge, tummy pain, UTI for a while, recent swabs show that she has strep on them and so does the urine, the dr has put her on some form of penillin. but no one has explained to me what type of strep it is? as its vaginal i assume is strep B? however is this not often seen other than in newborn babies? advice please

Hi,
Thanks and welcome to HCM .
Throat infection is usually caused by group A Streptococcus beta hemolyticus.
penicillin is the drug of choice.
If the baby is sensitive to Penicillin Erythromycin can be used.
