What Causes Worms In The Stool Despite Taking Mebendazole?

I got a one time dose of Mebandazole ( and a second to take in 3 weeks) . I took it 2 days ago, today was the first time I was able to use the bathroom after taking the treatment. I noticed a few white worms in my stool, as well as a few tiny dots floating above it. I was to freaked out to look long enough to determine if they where moving. Is it more likely that they are the ones that where killed by the treatment. Is it normal to be able to see them? Or should I contact my doctor and ask for another treatment.

Hi,
Yes they are pin worms and are killed by albendaziole so don't freak out rather I would suggest you to take albendazole 400mg once every night for 5 nights as yuou are severely infestated by worms.
Initial work up for worm infestations include stool examination for ova, cyst and parasites,RBC and WBC. Ifyour stool workup showed only pinworm then most probably you have no other infestations.
a high dose of albendazole should be taken.
Please follow up with reports of stool routine and microscopy.Don't see your doctor first get the test done.
