Hello,

I can understand your concern. Having tonsillitis, allergic rhinitis etc. cannot give an indication if you are infected with HIV or not. If you have had a possible exposure to the HIV virus, you should go for ELISA test that detects HIV antibodies present in the blood as soon as 8 days after possible exposure and as late as 86 days after the day of possible exposure. This test can confirm if you have HIV or not.

For the tonsillitis, you should antibiotics. You should take Azithromycin 500 mg (Azee 500) Once a day for 3 days. For constant discharge from nose, you should start Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) once a day for 5 days. In addition, you should go for steam inhalation, OTC decongestants and avoid cold air, water and food items.

If you do not feel better in 5 days, an ENT specialist should be consulted for clinical examination and further investigations.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
