Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Doctor, I am aged about 50 years (Male). about 3 weeks ago I, while on tour, vomiting (one episode) and loose motions started simultaneously. The condition further aggravated passing watery stool 4-5 times a day with fever and lot belching and wind formation. I took NITAZET-O twice a day with Rabeprazol -D 40 mg before breakfast. The motions came to a halt n 48 hours but on 3rd morning recurrence happened almost like the day one. I took the medicine for 5 days and then shifted to Tab ORNOF and Pantocid-D but desired result was not achieved even after taking it for 5 more days. Alongside I also took 1 cap of Providac after breakfast. Now I am having loose motion after having lunch with abdominal cramp for a short duration.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Vomiting with diarrhea on a travel is indicative of gastroenteritis or a traveller's diarrhea. Hence you need a course of Metronidazole and an antibiotic active against intestinal infection which you have taken in the form of Nitazet O and Ornof that is most probable Ornidazole. There is a chance of re-infection hence your symptoms started again. Hence I would advise you the following: Use only boiled and cooled water or RO water. Eat fresh foods only. Plenty of fluids and electrolyte solution to avoid dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Change over another antibiotic like Cefixime may help. Take Probiotics, yogurt, bananas and activated charcoal tablets.
