What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Receiving Birth Control Shots?

Hi Last year I was on the two month injection which left me bleeding and spotting for the entire duration since the shot...I have since stopped that shot, its been 5months now not on any contraceptive method. Today however I had a petogen shot whilst on my periods. Bleeding stopped throughout the day but at night started bleeding again..mso my question is,is it possible that I m having the same reaction from the 2mnth injection which I had last year or should I chill abit and see how this treats me? Mind you,it is not the first time on petogen,it treated me well back in 2014.

Hello,

If you are having irregular bleeding it is better and safer to have a visit with your doctor. Petogen may be causing the bleeding but there are other causes that will need to be ruled out like infection or tumors.

Your doctor will need to do a gynecological exam and then decide on further tests like a pap smear, swabs for chlamydia and gonorrhea, vaginal ultrasound and if you are over 35 years of age might ask for endometrial biopsy as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
