What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Intercourse?

ok so i'm 16 years old and me and my boyfriend were having oral. he started using his fingers and when he pulled them out they were bloody. and like it only lasted 15 mins and this morning i had a really weird discharge that was light brown and it only lasted 5. i had my period on sunday and im scared as hell that somethings wrong with me. can you help me

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) Fingering or intercourse may cause mild to moderate bleeding due to hymen rupture, roughness, blunt trauma, cervical injury etc.

Vaginal infection or dryness (lack of lubrication), endometriosis, cervical polyp etc are other contributing causes.

Most of time, this type of bleeding stops automatically within 2 to 3 days. Some may need medicine like Tranexamic acid for 3 days to arrest bleeding temporarily.

2) I suggest to consult with gynecologist if bleeding or brown discharge continues more than 3 days. One ultrasound scan is advisable to detect uterine or cervical pathology (if any). Maintain genital hygiene. Good luck.
