What Causes Urinary Leakage During Pregnancy?

Hi, I am 3 months pregnant, and I recently started losing control of my bladder and my bowels. I have embarrassing accidents, whether it be at night when I am sleeping, or when I am out and about during the day. I never feel when it is coming. It s just all of a sudden it all comes out at once and I don t know what to do. I have been carrying an extra pair of underpanties with me, but lately that just hasn t been cutting it. I soak through my clothes. When I sit down on the toilet, I can t get anything to come out, but when I am not in a bathroom, it happens. I m trying to wear super-maxi pads to absorb some of it. I started having accidents a few weeks ago peeing in my underpanties. The pooping in my underpanties is more recent. Is this normal? What should I do? Should I keep carrying extra underpanties with me for when it happens? Should I keep wearing the super-maxi pads or should I start wearing adult diapers? And should I see a doctor?

Hi.

Urinary and fecal incontinence not very very common but not rare either amongst pregnant women. I would not worry about it too much and yes please continue wearing the pads. I would recommend a visit to your doctor to decide whether you need any medications to help with the incontinence, but this is something that shall vanish as soon as you deliver so please do not worry about it.

Best wishes.
