What Causes Tonsil Discoloration?

I have had a cold for 4 days now and the tickle in my throat has been causing me to cough so I decided to take a look at my rather large tonsils.My one tonsil is actually yellow/white and it is Not mucus. I can touch it without any pain but I have never seen it turn the color of yellow.Yes, I plan to get to the Dr. first thing Monday morning.Any thoughts on why my tonsil is discolored?

Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to tonsillitis which is an infection of the throat.
I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.
I also suggest using a throat spray for antibacterial properties.
If the symptoms continue,,I suggest using antibiotics such as Augmentin twice a day for a week.
