Hi,

It is onycholysis occuring off and on. Onycholysis is a common nail disorder. It is the loosening or separation of a fingernail or toenail from its nail bed. It usually starts at the tip of the nail and progresses back.
It may occur due to some cause like trauma, fungus, bacteria, chemical, internal disease like....fever,thyroid dysfunction...etc
It may be hereditary or idiopathic means without cause.
Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.
To prevent recurrence of onycholysis....Clip the affected portion of the nail, and keep the nails short,Avoid injuring the affected nail, and keep the nail bed dry,Avoid exposure to soap and detergents.

Hope this helps.
