What Causes Swollen Tonsils With Red Patch On Roof Of Mouth?

The roof of my mouth has a yellow coloring to it and then I have a medium sized red patch. Then my under my right tonsil is swollen and I noticed some white bumps. I'm not sure how long my tonsil has been this way because it has been swollen for a long time I just recently decided to look into my mouth. I have been smoking for about 9 months.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms swollen tonsils ans red patch on the roof of the mouth along with white bumps which are probably pus pockets and all these symptoms are caused due to throat infection which can be either bacterial or viral in nature leading to tonsillitis.

As you are a smoker the symptoms gets exaggerated and does not get improved quicker due to injury caused by heat, smoke and chemicals present in cigarette smoke..

First of all abstain from smoking..
Take a course of antibiotics like AZITHROMYCIN 500 mg once daily for 5 days..
If there is pain you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller IBUPROFEN 400 mg thrice a day..
Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day..
Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
Avoid hot and spicy food and take a soft diet..
Steam inhalations and using a cool mist humidifier can further help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
