What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes Under The Chin During Pregnancy?

I am 10 1\2 weeks pregnant and for first time ever I have what feels like A swollen gland on the right side under my chin. No problem with airway. It is now size of golf ball. It had been about 6 hours since I ve eaten anything, and I didn t eat anything new today. I have taken allergy meds, but doesn t seem to be hoping down. I was also having issues with my teeth hurting the last few days on the right side of my face. Any ideas how to get swelling down or what may have caused it? Does it spound like a gland issue.

Considering that you are pregnant and the location of swelling, you have to, I any case rule out a Thyroid swelling. A simple method is to look at yourself in the mirror and swallow the sputum. If the swelling moves up and down with the act of swallowing it is Thyroid. Thyroid is an important issue in pregnancy as Hypothyroidism in pregnancy may affect the brain development of the baby during intranatal period.

Next come the lymph nodes which also have myriad causes and can have effect on baby and the mother too. Mostly the causes are infectious for which specific drugs are advised specifically safe in pregnancy.
At the outset if the swelling is not moving with swallowing, get a chest Xray done immediately if you are from the Indian Subcontinent. This so because Tuberculosis is an important and treatable cause that can complicate the affairs fairly enough.

Hope it helped.
