About 12 years ago, I noticed that the skin on top of my left foot (directly behind the toes) would fee very sensitive and raw. Days later, It would swell for a few days and all would subside. This happened on occasion, perhaps once a year or so and the only real problem was the swelling at the top that prohibited me from where sandles or shows that fit near the toe. Several years later into these episodes, the foot has remained swollen on top, directly behind the toes and in front of ankle. It is annoying. I've had x-rays, bone scans, MRIs and there seems to be nothing wrong. I had nurse practictioner tell me that it could be lymphedema. So, I began wearing compression stockings. This only didn't work either. Swelling goes completely when I rest a couple of days in bed. Within 48 hours, it reappears. Could this be lymphedema or possibly nerve damage?
