What Causes Spinning Sensation When I Stand?

Hello, I went on a 7 day cruise a few months ago to the Bahamas and after the trip, I had the typical sea motion feelings. Well it s never gone away, ha ha. I did manage to get a bad cold afterward but it cleared up after a couple weeks. So I still have this motion but only when standing or moving around. If I m laying down I don t feel it. any Ideas?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Spinning while standing means possibly hypotension or anemia etc. Other possibilities like BPPV or acute vestibular neurinitis or labyrinthitis etc. Avoid high risk activities, avoid smoking and alcohol intake. Use tablet Vertin thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
