What Causes Soreness In Mouth And In The Gland Underneath The Jaw?

I have a very sore mouth on the left lower side, its effecting my jaw and my gland underneath the jaw on that side is very sore, do have a baby tooth remaining in that area (i am forty now) could this be causing the problem, never had anything like this before, thought it might have been ulcers but can't see anything but very sore red gums. Noticed the gland yesterday but no mouth pain until last night.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain if you have a baby tooth remaining till now there is a possibility that it might have got infected leading to pain and soreness is due to infection..
Other reason can be infection or obstruction of the submandibular salivary gland located under the jaw..

Nothing to worry, consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and treatment can be planned according to the cause..
In case of tooth infection either root canal treatment or extraction of the tooth depending upon the tooth condition can help..

In case of salivary gland infection antibiotics and painkillers will relieve while if the salivary gland duct is blocked due to some foreign body or formation of crystalline stones from minerals present in saliva surgical removal of the stones can relieve..

As of now to relieve pain and soreness you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
