Hi went to ER over the weekend due to shortness of breath and fast heart beat with chest pain. Thought I was having a heart attact (48 yr old female). EKG came back abnormal as well as one of the enzyme tests. They admitted me. Next day I was ok Ekg back to normal as well as bloodwork. Went back to dr. yesterday and he mentioned it could be thyroid. I do have an enlarged thyroid with nodules but last ultrasound (last year) showed they didn't merit removal. They said levels were within normal range.I have always believed that there is a thyroid problem but have always been told no by my doctor.I googled hypothyroidism and something jumped right out at me. It said one of the risk factors for hypo thy is ingesting alot of soy and soy based proteins. I have been on Medifast for 3 weeks and lost 10 lbs which is mostly all soy based. I was eating 5 soy meals per day for 3 weeks! So sorry for the long winded question, but could this have triggered a problem with my thyroid that would have caused the SOB and other symptoms?
