What Causes Severe Pain And Bumps On The Back Of The Ear After Treating Shingles?

I thought I had a bad earache but my pain was like a zapping feeling on the back of my ear and on the right side of my head. I had a shingles shot in 2012. But the pain is getting constant zapping. The Dr. At Urgent care said I had bumps on the outside of the back of my ear and it would have dead skin on the back which I would scratch off. I was put on meds 3 pills daily 8hrs apart large green it begins with Adavant or something like that ,

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Shingles vaccine may cause Fever, lymphadenopathy and body aches. Rarely it may cause vaccine induced rashes. Other possibilities like folliculitis or boil etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
