What Causes Round Itchy Spot On Ankle With Pale Red In Color?

Hello, I have an irritated spot close to my ankle that I do not know how to treat. A friend said that it appeared to be ringworm as it is somewhat circular in shape and pale red in appearance. However, after purchasing antifungal cream to apply to it, it shows no sign of improvement after 10 days of applying (two times a day). The area sometimes itches, and some parts of the irritated area appear to be scarred. I am unsure how to proceed. Do you have any suggestions?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history, you are suffering from Eczema.

My treatment advice is:
1. Do not scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medicine like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.

If the problem persists, then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
