What Causes Redness And Itching At Birth Control Implant Site?
I am 20 years old, 5'3, 220lbs no major medical concerns.
I have been using Ortho Evra birth control since December 2010 with no major side effects but reddness around where the patch is located. This last week, when I removed my patch, there was a raised lump about the size of a quarter, it is painful and severly itchy. I have also been really dizzy, like I am spinning around. And have been confused about things at work that I normally know really well. Should I seek emergency care? I don't have insurance and only want to go in if it is necessary.

The itching and oozing could be an allergic reaction. You can apply cortisone cream to the affected area. If that does not help and symptoms do not reduce in 24 hours, then follow up with urgent care to rule out any infection.
