What Causes Red Itchy Spots On The Back And Neck In A 3 Year Old?

My 3 year old started scratching his head frequently so i checked for lice and eggs. I found none. Small red itchy bumps began to appear on his neck and spread to his back. I thought it might be an allergic reaction but i have used nothing new. What is this?

Hi,

It may be lichen urticatus most probably.Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

I would recommend you to apply mild steroid cream combined with antibiotic. And give her a course of oral steroid in tapering dose. Also give antihistaminics like hydroxyzine HCL 10mg daily at night.

Hope this helps.
