What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding?

I use to be sEMI regular about 29 to 31 days and every since I've moved back to the east coast is has been nonstop wrong every month. I try and rule out weight gain but I have been way heavier before and still came on. I wanna say strest but I've been semi more stressed in the past but still. I even had missed an entire month and never in my life has that happen. I havent been sexually active in a year. Can masturbation help at all?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern.

1. As I'm unable to examine you directly, thus take an opinion from a gynecologist, since she will take due consideration in taking up your case history and excluding factors for menorrhagia, thus remain under her regular supervision and observation, as to how to proceed further, I at most can let you know about the symptomwise approach:

. check with TVS [trans vaginal sonography] and pap smear test.
. check your Hb%, WBC, Bleeding disorder profile, Thyroid Function Test.

2. Regarding your present complaint of heavy bleeding, you can take medicine like tranexamic acid 500mg 3 times a day for 3 to 5 days and If it doesn't work, you can take a high dose of progesterone to stop the bleeding after consulting with your Gynecologist.
