What Causes Pregnancy Symptoms While On Depo Provera?
Hello I recently had sex 2 weeks ago. i am on depo provera and have been for a year. my last injection was august 13th. i want to know if i could possibly be pregnant. it will be 2 weeks tomorrow since i had sex. i have read all of the symtoms and i have almost everyone of them. headaches: i even had my first migrane. emotional: i am very stressed lately and people say im being mean to them more. fatigue: i am always tired now. nausea: everytime i eat i feel sick to my stomach. and theres alot more symptoms. can i be pregnant?

If you have had all your injections on time, Depo Provera has an extremely low failure rate (nearly impossible to conceive). So there is no reason to suspect that you are pregnant, especially because you have been on the shot for over a year. Even after discontinuing Depo-Provera, many women do not resume normal ovulation for 3-6 months.
Side effects of Depo Provera can be identical to pregnancy as the hormone progesterone (the active ingredient in Depo) is also normally produced during pregnancy. So bloating, mood changes, breast tenderness, spotting, headaches, and weight gain can all be side effects of the medication. It is impossible then to determine if you are pregnant based on symptoms.
If you are concerned about pregnancy, you can purchase and perform an over-the-counter pregnancy test and perform it according to the package directions. Modern pregnancy tests are extremely accurate and will become positive within 10 days to 2 weeks after conception.
