What Causes Positive Pregnancy Test Despite Undergoing Abortion?
hi i had an abortion last feb 9, inserted two at the vagina and drink two and aanother two every two hours for total of 8 cytotec. i had heavy bleeding for half day, chill, diarhea. after three days i have spotting and upto now but only whenever i need to pee. i took a pregnancy test and remains positive. does that mean im still pregnant?

Pregnancy test will become negative 7-10 days after abortion. So again repeat the test at the 11th day after using pills.
Following are the cause of positive pregnancy test 10 days after abortion:
1. Retain product/incomplete abortion: It should be confirmed by USG scan. If diagnosed should be treated immediately by evacuation or D & C as it cause excessive bleeding and chance of infections
2. Ectopic pregnancy: If pregnancy is not in uterine cavity, abortion will not complete and pregnancy test will give positive. It should be treated by surgery and blood transfusion
3. Choriocarcinoma/molar pregnancy: Sometime placental cell convert in to malignant cell by invasion in uterus Diagnosed by blood HCG or USG. It should be treated by surgery plus chemotherapy.
So consult the gynecologist to rule out the above cause.
