What Causes Persistent Hip Pain With Discomfort?

Hi, About a week ago I started to get a bit of pain just above the right hip, in the area of kidney. I initially thought that I may have pulled a muscle and after a few days the pain sort of went away. About a week later the same pain's come back but this time it's stayed on, for about 4 days now. I had some voltaren applied the first time it occurred and also this time and that appeared to help only slightly but the pain is now persisting. It didn't feel severe enough to see a doctor but now it seems that I'll have to do that as it's getting very uncomfortable. Initially I was thinking that perhaps it's my kidney, as it doesn't feel like surface pain but more inner, and my urine is normal. I was wondering what it could be?
