What Causes Persistent Cough And Running Nose?

I seem to have an allergy or something for the past six weeks I keep getting a bad chesty cough and wheezing and my nose keeps running as though I have a full blown flu virus except in less than 30 minutes I am totally clear I breathe normally and my nose is clear. When the coughing gets bad I can taste blood most likely the small vessels in my throat, I have also been sick and my eyes water a lot. I have seen the doctor 10 days ago he sent me for a chest xray which I haven t got the results back and put on antibiotics for a week. Monday of this week I went to see another Doctor and given Prednisoline 5MG Tablets 6 a day and Clarithromycin Tablets 2 a day even though I have taken these the symptoms have got worse I have been taking the tablets for 5 days with only 2 days left and the syptoms are getting more often can you please help. Thank you James Dawson

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of severe coughing, for 6 weeks, chesty cough, wheezing, nose running and watering of eyes, X-ray done but no report, under Clarithromycin and Prednisone but no relief.
I would advise you the following:
Cough suppressant to start with to control the coughing.
Anti-inflammatory like Serratiopeptidase to increase reach of antibiotic and other drugs in lung mucosa.
There may be asthma and may need broncho-dilators oral or in the form of spray.
Take rest in warm room.
Avoid allergens that you must have by this identified.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
