What Causes Painful Sex?

Hi, I've been in and out of the doctor's office. Negative to all STD's, vaginal infections, and bladder infections. What is wrong with me? We have plenty of lubrication and never has been a problem in the past. Ever since I got diagnosed with BV and a yeast infection in August, painful sex has still been ongoing. I have no other symptoms either besides having a hemorrhoid, which I don't think has any correlation between the two.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I understand that you and your wife are having problems with your sexual relationship.

Now, pain during sexual intercourse is called dyspareunia and can be due to a variety of causes - like vaginismus, pelvic infections, psychological problems, etc.

The first step in the management of this problem is to have a complete evaluation to identify a cause.

Only if the correct cause is identified, appropraite management can be advised. So I would suggest that you take her to a gynecologist for a detailed evaluation and further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
