What Causes Pain On The Left Rear Flank?

I am looking to find out what the persistent pain is in my left rear flank? It used to be an intermittent pain, but now it does not let up. It is up near the back of the lower 3 ribs. I often feel like there is a tight belt being drawn tight under my chest under the ribcage. I asked my Endo about my adrenals and without doing any checking was told, there is nothing wrong with my adrenal function. Historically, I have already had two major adrenal crashes since I became Ill in 2005. Is it possible to be inflammatory bowel disease, kidney stones or a liver problem? I have been taking about $400 per month of Rx palliative medications and Rx supplements since 2005 and am faithful with my 13mm CPAP nightly. The pain is like a tightness, dull in nature until I move. It gets worse when I eat even a small amount. I have not been on any pain meds.

Hello,
I can understand your concern for your symptoms.
1) Left side pain on rear flank is suggestive of kidney origin with possibility of having kidney stone.
2) For this it is recommended to do USG abdomen and urine routine report.
3) You can take anti-spasmodic group of medication for quick pain relief.
4) As a preventive measure, it is recommend to keep urine alkaline for future development of stones.
5) If such pain episodes are associated with GI symptoms like constipation, diarrhea, decreased appetite, nausea, increase in size of abdomen then it is likely that pain is due to colon condition. This might require CT scan abdomen or colonoscopy for further evaluation.

Hope I answered your query, If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!
