What Causes Pain And Tenderness Near The End Of Earlobe?

Hello, I have been experiencing pain and tenderness on the left side of my face at the lower end of my earlobe. When I touch the area it is very painful but I don t see any lumps at the site of pain. My left ear has a eustation tube issue and is usually clogged and feels as if there is always fluid in it. When I move my jaw around I can hear a sound inside. I don t have health insurance and would like to know if this is worth paying the money to see a doctor. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The typical causes of earlobe swelling are infection, allergies, and trauma. Earlobe swelling can be treated with over-the-counter medications and home remedies. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
