What Causes Pain And Bloating After Abortion?

Hi, I am 23 yrs old and work as a personal trainer. I have just recently (3 days ago) had a surgical abortion. I had one day off work after the abortion as I felt fine and wanted to carry on with life as normal. I was fine the first day I went back to work and the second day but then last night(Day 3) after being home from work for only an hour and after eating I started to get severe cramps and whether I was stood up or sat or laying down the pain would not go away, I also felt sick but wasn't sick at first. I tried to sleep after taking painkillers and eventually got to sleep but then woke up a few hours later in a lot of pain again! I was also sick which was a yellow colour and have noticed the bleeding to get heavier than it was at first.
I wondered with exercise I may have brought it on but the pain is severe and felt fine when I was doing light exercises.
I was 8 weeks pregnant when I had the abortion and did have a bit of morning sickness during pregnancy and as expected emotions were hightened and I also felt bloated a lot during the pregnancy but the bloating seems to have gone now and I have not felt sick other than when the pain started last night.
If you could offer me some advice I would be very grateful! Thanks

Hello,
In the current scenario, I would advise you rest and observation. Since you had a surgical abortion done, the likelihood of products being retained inside the uterus is less. The physical exertion must have brought on this bleeding and pain. Usually, rest is advised for one week after any minor procedure on the uterus in order to avoid further bleeding. You will need styptics to arrest the bleeding and uterine anti-spasmodics to relieve pain. Please report to your consultant also and get an opinion. The possibility of retained products also should be borne in mind and this can be confirmed through a pelvic/trans-vaginal sonogram. Hope this helps.
