Hello, I would be happy to answer your question today.
Your symptoms in and around your mouth after your procedure were probably due to some injury while you were asleep under
anesthesia. You may have bitten the inside of your mouth, or the tube that was placed in your mouth during the procedure may have have bruised you and put pressure on a nerve.
However, because you still feel
numbness even two weeks after your procedure, I am a bit concerned that something more serious may have occurred. Any woman who is or has been pregnant is at risk for
blood clots, which can lead to strokes. To make sure that you did not have a small stroke during your procedure, it is very important that you follow up with a local physician and possibly be evaluated by a
neurologist. You should discuss this with your provider who performed the procedure on you, as they may have some knowledge about an
anesthetic complication that was not disclosed to you immediately after your procedure.
I hope that I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes, Dr. Brown
