What Causes Numb Tongue?

I had Mastoid Surgery 30 years ago. I now have scar tissue there. Is it possible the scar tissue could be
now causing me to have a numb tongue and a burning dry mouth. What can be done to fix this problem.
It is very painful and I have had it for a year now.
