What Causes Negative Pap Smear Results?
I And 47 years old and have been monogamous for over 20 years. I truly believe that my husband has been faithful as well . My yearly Pap smears were always negative. Suddenly two years ago the high risk Pap smear turned up positive. They tell me at my doctors that this is not high cause for alarm. They tell me that HPV hides out in your Nervous system a long time. I am having a hard time believing that this is not a cause for alarm. I do have other health problems such as degenerative disc disease and major intestinal problems which caused me to be frequently immuno suppressed. What do you think?

There is a chance that you had HPV infection but the pap smear can be negative. Most people in the world have HPV infection and it is difficult to prove that your husband has not been faithful to you.
There is almost no way to confirm if your husband was cheating on you or not. I would not recommend that you worry further and if you need to put your mind at ease, I think that you should talk to your husband.
