What causes nausea, vomiting and yellowish stuff during bowel movements?

I m 62, have intermittently had pain+nausea+vomiting foamy/clear/or yellowish stuff during bowel movements -not all bowel movements. It has become more frequent. Sometimes the stool is hard, sometimes its soft. It is not linked with certain foods. I see a GI doctor and recently had a benign colonscopy. I haven t heard of anything like this, but was wondering if it could have anything to do with the vagus nerve? I ve seen several other people on this site and others and no possibilities for these symptoms. I would just really like to find out what could be causing this so I can get help or ideas toward help.

Hello,

The vagus nerve does not sound to be responsible for such presentation rather than inflammatory bowel condition with digestive enzymes and gut flora disturbances is the key factor likely to be involved here.

Better to consult gastro enterologist for the best review and results rather than loosing time and worrying.

Best methods for primary adoption of better result oriented strategy would be
- strict diet control with bland, vegan diet
- plenty of liquids
- primary prescription of anti emetic as ondansetron, PPI as omeprazole from your PCP
- avoid stress, anxiety
- no smoking or alcohol consumption if doing
- pre and probiotics are very key role players in such cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon

I woke up last night after feeling fine all day to being extremely cold and not able to warm up the temperature was 70. After trying to wrap myself in blankets still freezing I had difficulty breathing. Then the nausea began I got up and threw up thick vomit I had to spit it out. Then I needed to have a bowel movement. After throwing on about 3 layers of additional clothing and socks and slippers I was able to sleep after about an hour. I woke up still cold and nauceous, just not as severe as last night. Should I go to the er or trust that it will get better in time.

I d appreciate your opinion. I am 87 years of age and in good health, well up until this. Day before yesterday I was fine until right after lunch when I became nauseated. I had eaten a sandwich using some meat we had had in the box for several days. It didn t taste bad or smell bad so I had my sandwich. After lunch when I vomited that, of course, was in the vomit. Then I felt like I had go to the bathroom for a bowel movement. What came out was very little fecal matter but a lot of blood. Later if I sneezed or coughed of course I soiled my pad. Yesterday I had some very mild cramping but nothing bad. The blood continued to appear tho not as much all through the day yesterday. I did not eat anything yesterday but drank lots of water and some 7-up. No fever and no blood today. Do I assume it was the meat, or a burst hemorrhoid? I feel fine.

For about a month, I been feeling a severe discomfort starting with a weird sensation in the back of my head, to discomfort in my neck, to the top of my chest, to the SEVERE discomfort in the lower part of my chest between my breast , to my upper abdomen and its in a straight line. I have been burping a lot also. I am also constipated. Haven’t used the restroom in about 2 days and I’ve been eating a lot. When I sit up straight and breath I can feel a pulling sensation from my throat all the way down to the bottom of my chest. One time when I was sleeping the chest discomfort got so severe that I thought I was having a heart attack . I got up and went to the rest room and had a bowel movement and the pain slowly went away after that. I went to the hospital and they did a chest xray , blood test, stomach xray, and ekg and all came back normal. I am not taking any medicines right now. I posted on another health website and somebody said that I might have vagus nerve irritation. I havent took any medicine except gas x, and tums for the burping. Can someone please help.

I was having a bowel movement and came to blockage, next thing i know i'm going to pass out -well this time i hit my head on the bathtub before hitting the floor. It has happened to me throughout the years, most related cramps from having stool blockage. Do you think this is the right diagose for me?
