What Causes Low Pulse Rate?

I am having low pulse issue for the past few months. I took a complete health checkup, and found no abnormalities. This leads to bit of uncomfortable in few occasions. My health report reveals that the haemoglobin level is in the lower level ie., 13.8 gms / dl. Can you guide what may be the issue and would like to know how to overcome this. (I am not a sports person).

Hello
Thanks for posting here.
First of all we have to determine how slow is your heart rate and your age. IF the heart rate is above 50 beats per min, then there is nothing much to worry about. Instead a heart rate between 50 - 70 is ideal because it increases the heart's blood filling time and ensures all organs are supplied with blood adequately. So if your age is less than 60 and your heart rate is slow but above 50 beats per min you may not worry. If you are older than 60, then one of the reasons can be degenerative disease of the heart conductive system.
I advice you to get an ECG and a 2 D Echo done which will help you rule out any conduction problems with the heart. Also a 13.8 hemoglobin is not considered as low. So please do not worry about it.
Just get the two tests done so that we can get a clearer answer.

Wishing you good health.
Regards
Dr Shankar
