Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 21 years old, and have noticed that my appetite has declined quite noticeably. i had a very bad virus earlier in the year and i lost about 8kgs and im thinking that may have something to do with my dwindling appetite. but it has been months since the virus has passed
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Low appetite has many issues as: pyrexia of unknown origin, underlying inflammatory process in the body system, low immunity, deficiency of digestive enzymes, pancreas or liver disorders, stomach issues, HIV, tuberculosis, certain tumors, smoking, certain medicines, and others.
Does not seem in relation with viral infection before months. Need to be evaluated thoroughly in terms of physical examination, supportive data evaluation with laboratory, radiology, and other necessary tools.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
