What Causes Low Appetite, Dizziness And Weakness Inspite Of Thyroid Treatment?

I was diagnosed with Graves disease last year. I was on medication for about 6 months and then my condition seemed to self-correct, so I was taken off of the medication. In May of this year I suspected a thyroid problem again. I was tired, anxious, weak, itchy skin, heart palpitations, short of breath, and was experiencing some vertigo. My TSH level was .004. However my t3 and t4 was in the high part of the normal range and then when tested again it was slightly raised above normal. I started taking my medication again proplythyracil and have been on it for 2 weeks. However I am still having some dizziness, weakness, nervousness, fuzzy headedness. The first time I was diagnosed with Graves I lost quite a bit of weight. This time I have had no weight loss and even seem to have a loss of appetite. I don't feel like the medication is treating me as effectively as last time. Last time my t3 and t4 levels were a lot more raised than they are not. I just went back to the lab today to recheck blood levels. I don't have an endocrinologist to go to where I live. I'm seeing an internal medicine doctor and plan to go to see an endocrinologist in Houston in July. What is your gut feeling about what I am experiencing?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
The symptoms you reported are suggestive for overactive thyroid even though they do not resemble to those of the last year.
After starting propylthyuracil, a 2 week period is enough to judge about its dose but the symptoms need 4-6 weeks to disappear.
If they persists after 6 weeks of treatment, than onther cause should be tried to find (probably depression).
So, keep taking the tablets and wait for other 2-4 weeks to get better.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
